We are about 11 miles west of where we were yesterday! Town's name is Trabadelo. We're staying today in a Casa Rural where we have a whole house to ourselves. Kitchen, TV (in Spanish) bedroom upstairs, bath with wooden beams, tongue in groove walls and a rock wall behind the bed. 45 Euros. Once we figure out how to turn off the heat, we'll be in fine shape.
We met our doctor friends from Florida again this morning coming out of VillaFranca. Craig and Dawn. They took the high road and we choose to walk by the river. No one makes plans to meet; we just go our own paces, convene when it works and move on. I do hope we see them again as I like them a lot. I wonder if we'll see Alyce again, the woman from the south of France who is walking alone as her husband goes by car to meet her each evening. She gave us her address and invited us to visit them.
My feet were better today. Craig attends them well. He cut the gel inserts so they give me heel support but don't bind my toes. This is important stuff! We all talk about our bodies. One woman today from Tucson has been caring for blisters since St. Jean and then twisted her ankle. We shared some Ibuprofen cream with her husband who has some osteo-arthritis issues in his cervical vertebrae.
So by my calculations we have about 125 miles to Santiago which means we've walked about 175.
We spent the afternoon in our spacious house, washing clothes, napping. Siestas are sacred here. Nothing moves from about 2 to 5 except men playing cards.
Dinner was at 7:30 for us and we had a short Skype time with Sonya and Hazel before the connection failed.
Another terrific meal was enjoyed with the company of a French couple from North of Paris. After dinner our host brought us
2 small shot glasses and a bottle of orajo de hierbas. He said it wasn't strong, only 20% and was good for digestion!
It's been a good day and we are luxuriating in this spacious abode!
