May 13 Trabadelo to O'Cebreiro 12.5 miles, 29,232 steps

Today we climbed the last 6 miles from 600 meters to 1300 meters (or 2100 feet). Temperature: in the low 80s.

We've arrived in Galicia. The history here is long and rich, spiritually as well. We're just beginning to savor it. Tonight it came in the fashion of sopa de gallega, a delicious soup and a Santiago cake,
dense almond with castor sugar on top.

The walk today was most challenging as we climbed up to this village. The landscape is vivid, fields all being cultivated, wildflowers blooming.

There was no room for extra baggage of any kind as we ascended the mountain. Thus, the fears of the future that I carried forward from a night of foot pain had to let go. Moving, witnessing the beauty, soaking up sun, drinking water, watching footsteps all required concentration. Total. It changed the chemistry.

Craig massaged my feet in the night. The ache subsided. He cut the gel inserts so my toes have room. Behold! A day of comfort. He is my foot god.

Tired tonight. Not much more to write. Enjoy the photos.
