We wake up - that's difficult because staying under the covers in our unique caves seems oh so tempting. We try to be out by 7:30 and having breakfast either in our room with yogurt and fruit we've bought the night before, or in some cafe. Coffee is mandatory. For one of us. This blog could be titled , "won't walk without coffee."
We arrived in Sarria by 2pm in a lovely hostel that boasts a washer/dryer. Another simple pleasure so appreciated. So we spent time getting our clothes clean and Skypping with Hazel May since today is her 3rd birthday. So good to be able to stay in touch!
Dinner tonight was communal at this albuergue. Food was terrific starting with the Galician soup, empanadas , tortilla de patas, salad, plenty of wine, the Galician almond cake for dessert and that aperitif again. At the long table were 4 Italians, us, a French couple named Alain and Agnes from Chantilly, a couple from South Africa, and a couple German folk. We had a rousing time, coupled with a good discussion with the South Africans and Alain who spoke perfect English. We will arrive in Santiago de Campostela at the same time. That's the plan anyway.
Tomorrow I will share our thoughts for after Santiago since we have more time than we originally thought. Clearly , we had no idea of the pace of the days until we began.
Do stay tuned.
I like sharing this experience with you all and writing each day deepens my own experience.
Time to sleep now.
